Art in Nature: Community Garden
This blending of art, nature, and love of simpler times and healthier living will offer a 20,000 sq. ft. garden with raised beds for the community to grow their own vegetables, herbs, cut flowers and more. Memberships will be available with bed sizes ranging from 5 x 10 ($30), 10 x 10 ($45), 10 x 20 ($60) and 20 x20 ($75).
The co-operative portion to the Garden will include Grape Vines, Berry Bushes, Fruit Trees, Herbs, and “Camellia ” tea plants. A drip irrigation system is planned to eliminate the need for daily watering. Also, a retired Certified Operator with the Dept. of Agriculture will be vigilantly watching over the garden along with the assistance of the County Extension Service, which is a partnership of The University of Georgia, the U. S. Department of Agriculture and counties of the state cooperating. Cooperative Extension is on the forefront of food safety, technology, research, and education.
There will be a Tea Plant fund raiser with all proceeds going to the Community Garden. Beautiful Camellia Senensis plants will be for sale throughout the month. These wonderful broadleaf ever greens are every bit as beautiful as the camellias you are already familiar with but even better. These are the plants that all black, green and oolong teas are harvested from. You can harvest your own tea from plants right in your back yard. Studio 101 is offering a pre-sale of these 1 gallon, 12”-24” plants for $20.00. During the Art in Nature event they will be sold at $25.00.
